Voluntary and community groups, parish councils and social enterprises across Aylesbury Vale have the chance to find out how they can apply for funding for local projects.

The Buckinghamshire Funding Group, of which AVDC is a member, is holding a funding advice day to make it easier for local organisations to obtain grants and funding advice.

The event will be free and open to all Aylesbury Vale-based organisations that are looking for advice, guidance and information to help maximise their fundraising efforts. It takes place on Tuesday 11 March from 2pm to 7.30pm.

Various local, regional and national funders, such as the Community Chest, Youth Bank, WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited), Children in Need, and Access to Nature (Natural England & Big Lottery Fund) will hold 20-minute surgery sessions, as well as general advice sessions throughout the day. Local organisations will be able to meet directly with these funders to discuss potential applications and obtain one-to-one advice on a range of funding issues.

AVDC’s Cabinet Member for Community Matters, Councillor Pam Pearce said, “Voluntary groups are at the heart of our communities and provide invaluable services to the people of their area. They need continued support and advice to make sure that they know where they can get cash for their projects and how to successfully run their groups. This funding event is an ideal opportunity for voluntary and community groups to meet with representatives from a wide range of funding bodies and to find out more about their individual grant processes and criteria.”

The programme is now available and local organisations are invited to book their appointments, which will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis. Booking is essential. The closing date for booking applications is 27 February.

More information about the event, including the programme and booking form is available from the grants team at AVDC on 01296 585256, from the website at www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk or email fundingfair08@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
