Nominations are being sought for Aylesbury Vale District Council’s prestigious Volunteer of the Year award.
Over the next few weeks, AVDC is asking local residents to nominate someone who has given their time and energy – on a voluntary basis – to benefit the local community.
The award is open to anyone who lives and works within the Aylesbury Vale area. Nominees don’t have to be well-known or involved in high-profile events, as long as their efforts benefit local people.
Maybe they help the elderly or disabled by doing odd jobs, driving, shopping, or gardening, or do charity work or fundraising. Or maybe they dedicate their spare time to helping youngsters.
A judging panel will meet in the spring to make their decision from all the nominations received and a ceremony will then be held to honour the winner.
Councillor Pam Pearce, Cabinet Member for Community Matters, said: “Aylesbury Vale is blessed with so many people who volunteer in a number of different capacities and so often their contribution goes unsung. The Volunteer of the Year Award provides the perfect opportunity for their efforts to be recognised and rewarded. If you know of someone who gives their all, goes above and beyond the call of duty and really makes a difference, then please nominate them today.”
The closing date for nominations is 10 March. For more information about the awards, or an application form, please contact Alice Fisher on 01296 585041 or email afisher@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
