Refuse and recycling collections cancelled by strong winds
Archived press release
Date Published: 10/03/08
All refuse and recycling collection rounds have been cancelled today due to Calvert waste site being closed due to high winds.
The winds have also caused us to cancel our recycling collection for the day. Any empty containers would be blown around and could cause a danger to road and footway users. During the day SITA staff will be picking up recycling that has blown out of recycling baskets.
Please take your rubbish and recycling back onto your property. Unfortunately we will not be able to do a catch up round, so refuse and recycling will not be collected until your next normal collection date. To check your refuse collection dates visit the council’s website at www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk and follow the link from the homepage.
If you’d like to get rid of your rubbish before your next collection date, the household waste and recycling centres at Rabans Lane, Aylesbury and Yonder Slade, Buckingham are open as normal, between 8am and 5pm.
We hope that normal service will be resumed tomorrow depending on the weather conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
