Plans by a developer to provide up to 1,000 new homes in West Linslade, but all within Aylesbury Vale’s boundaries, have not found favour with Aylesbury Vale District Council.

A public consultation on the proposed development known as the West Linslade Urban Extension is about to begin. In addition to the housing, the proposals include high quality employment space, a new health centre, a landscaped country park, including recreation and play facilities, local shops and community facilities.

However, as Councillor Carole Paternoster, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, explained; “This is a case of the developer trying to manipulate the system to their gain, and not considering the wider wishes of the district councils or residents involved. The way in which the government sets the housing numbers we plan for means that if this development were to go ahead it would be in addition to, rather than instead of, some of the growth around Aylesbury that the district council is currently consulting upon.”
