Fun day for the family at Vale Park

Archived press release

Date Published: 04/09/08

Aylesbury Vale District Council is hosting an exciting fun day in Vale Park on Sunday 7 September.

There will be a whole range of activities in which both adults and children can participate, making the event a great day out for the whole family.

The fun day, which runs from 12pm to 4pm, will include inflatable games and sporting activities. The event will kick off with the raising of the park’s new Green Flag by Councillor Janet Blake, Vice Chairman of the Council.

Vale Park won the Green Flag award from the Civic Trust for the first time this year following an intensive scheme by the council to improve the park for local residents. Green Flag awards are the national standard for parks and green spaces, and Vale Park was one of only six sites in Buckinghamshire to receive this accolade.

Judges look for spaces which are welcoming, healthy and safe, clean and well maintained, as well as spaces which are sustainable and which involve the local community.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “The fun day is a great opportunity for residents to come down to Vale Park to enjoy a wide range of activities and take a look around. We are very proud of achieving the Green Flag this year and I hope that success will encourage more of our residents to visit the park and discover what it has to offer.”
