The search is on to find local residents who are willing to take an active role in the strategic management and development of Aylesbury Vale’s sport and leisure facilities.

Aylesbury Vale District Council is establishing a charitable trust to manage the Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre in Aylesbury and the Swan Pool and Leisure Centre in Buckingham.

The trust needs local people on its board of trustees to ensure that the sport and leisure facilities meet the needs of local communities.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “We are looking for individuals who have enthusiasm, drive and can make a real difference to the running of the leisure centres. The trustees will have a very influential role in developing and improving the facilities and will have a strong say in how they are run. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who has an interest in sport and leisure and a desire to see that sporting opportunities are provided for all.”

Local residents can find out more about the leisure trust and the role of the trustees at an open evening which is being held at Aylesbury’s Civic Centre on Monday 22 September between 6pm and 8pm. Refreshments will be provided.
