Aylesbury Vale District Council will have its own action-packed, fun-filled marquee at the Bucks County Show on 27 August.
Residents are invited to visit the AVDC marquee, located at avenue E, stand EL3, to try their hand at an assortment of activities and find out more about the variety of services delivered by the council.
The marquee will feature the Eye Opening Aylesbury campaign to highlight how the town is growing, information about the Aylesbury markets and a recession-busting display to help people access the services they may need during the downturn in the economic climate.
Leisure staff will be running a Nintendo Wii challenge for young people and arts and crafts for younger children. There’s no need to book – just go along and join in the fun.
The sustainability team will be on hand with information about reducing energy use and details of the handyman service for older people. Visitors will also have the opportunity to have a go on an eco-drive simulator, which will show users how they can save on fuel by driving more ecologically.
The environmental health team will be showing people how well their favourite restaurant, café or takeaway scores on food hygiene with Scores on the Doors. The scheme allows members of the public to see the results of the last food hygiene inspection in the form of a star rating.
The stage area and its performers will as ever provide a lively and entertaining atmosphere for everyone to enjoy, young or old. There will be performances throughout the day, including children’s entertainers and live music.
Visitors also have the chance to enter a raffle to win prizes including two family tickets for this year’s pantomime at the Civic Centre in Aylesbury, a ladies watch, a tankard and a hamper.
Councillor John Cartwright, Leader of the Council, said: “We are very pleased to be part of the Bucks County Show and I would encourage as many people as possible to visit our marquee, say hello and find out more about the work of the council and how we can help them. I look forward to meeting as many Aylesbury Vale residents as possible.”
The Bucks County Show takes place at Weedon Park, near Aylesbury, from 8am to 6pm. Tickets cost £9 for adults, £8 for senior citizens, £5 for children, and £23 for families (two adults and two children).
