Aylesbury Vale District Council has introduced a new hire charge at its community centres to help local groups fight the credit crunch.

Community groups and organisations can book the council-run facilities for just £13.50 for two hours.

The new rate is now available between 9am and 5.15pm, Monday to Friday, after which normal hire rates are charged.

The centres can be used for meetings, keep fit classes, children’s activities, educational sessions and much more.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “The community centres provide a great range of quality facilities. This new hire charge will help local groups to take advantage of what’s on offer.”

There are time slots currently available at the Southcourt and Prebendal Farm Community Centres in Aylesbury. Call 01296 585087 for Prebendal Farm and 01296 338317 for Southcourt for details of the activities and for bookings.

There is also limited availability at other AVDC managed community centres. For further details visit www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/communitycentres or call 01296 585187.
