Refuse and recycling update - Wednesday 23 December

Archived press release

Date Published: 23/12/09

The refuse and recycling crews are out again this morning but the freezing temperatures have continued to make pavements and some roads extremely hazardous.

AVDC's refuse and recycling crews will be working through the day to complete as many collections as possible. However, there may be some properties where conditions either on the roads or pavements, make this too dangerous to do.

Collections will take longer than usual so please leave your refuse and recycling out until the end of the day. If it is not collected today, we are sorry but it will not be possible to collect it until your next due collection date.

We were hoping to be able to revisit some properties which should have had their glass collection last Friday but were missed because of the weather conditions. Because of the prolonged spell of bad weather, although some collections were possible, if you still have your glass boxes out, please now take them back in.

Missed recycling collections will now be collected on the next due for recycling collection. We are sorry  for any inconvenience this causes.

A list of recycling banks throughout the district can be found on our website at
