Make a Splash at Aqua Vale

Make a Splash is offering, for just £15, a programme of six lessons for adults who’ve always wanted to learn to swim and become more confident in the pool.

Bucks Sport, working with Aqua Vale Leisure Centre (managed by Aylesbury Vale Community Trust), are offering these highly subsidised lessons from January.

This is another example of how Make a Splash, a Bucks Sport programme of water-based activities, is helping people get fit and active in the run up to London 2012.

Charlotte Smith, Swimming & Aquatics Development Officer for Bucks Sport, is working with Aqua Vale to get more people to take to the pool, stay in the pool and have more fun being more active. As she explains: “We are offering these three complementary programmes of lessons to ensure we cater for both the complete beginner and the more experienced swimmer. At only £2.50 a class they provide excellent value for money.”

There are three different types of lessons available to cater for all ability levels. See details and times below:

• “Make a Splash!” Swim Confidence: caters for complete beginners and supports participants as they build their confidence and skills in shallow water. These lessons are available every Wednesday from 6 January (8am - 8.30am) and every Thursday from 7 January (12.15 - 12.45pm and also 12.45pm - 1.15pm).
• “Make a Splash!” Swim Perfection: helps improve technique and is particularly suited to people who have recently learnt to swim or want to get back into swimming. These lessons are available every Wednesday from 6 January (8.30am - 9am).
• “Make a Splash!” Swim Fit: provides a tailored work-out for those confident swimmers wanting to develop their aerobic fitness whilst improving their overall skill. These lessons are available every Thursday from 7 January (12.15pm -1.15pm).

All courses, led by a highly experienced Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Level 2 Teacher, are subsidised by Bucks Sport and cost just £15. These special offers are in addition to the existing free swimming offer available at Aqua Vale for those aged 60 and over. For further details on free swimming please see www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
