Pantomime goers at Aylesbury Civic Centre who went along over the festive season to see the production of Cinderella certainly dug deep into their pockets for charity.
Each year the Civic Centre holds a collection at the end of the panto performances in aid of charity and this season was no different.
Civic Centre customers donated a whopping £2,000 to the Chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council’s nominated charities.
The production of Cinderella, featuring family entertainer Bernie Clifton and his faithful ostrich Oswald, was a huge success providing great entertainment to nearly 11,000 people during its three-week run.
Chairman of AVDC, Councillor Netta Glover, said: “It’s fantastic that the Civic Centre delivered another great hit with its family pantomime and a big thanks to everyone who helped to raise much-needed funds for my chosen charities.”
This year Councillor Glover is supporting the HeartScan Appeal at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, which aims to raise £125,000 to buy advanced specialist equipment to assess those at risk of a heart attack or stroke. She is also raising funds for Me, Myself, I (MMI), a local charity which provides support for profoundly physically and mentally disabled residents who were previously housed in the Manor House Hospital in Aylesbury.
