Help shape Aylesbury Vale’s new community centre

Residents in Aylesbury Vale are being invited to tell the district council what activities they would like to see offered at a new community facility.
The doors to a new community centre are soon to be opened on the Buckingham Park housing development at Weedon Hill.
The temporary centre, situated at Colonel Grantham Avenue, next to the Berryfields Medical Centre, will have a main hall with a capacity of up to 100 people. It will be available for community and individual hire.
To make sure that the centre provides activities that residents want, Aylesbury Vale District Council is keen to consult as many members of the local community as possible over the next few weeks.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “We want to make sure that local residents have the opportunity to say what activities they would like to see and participate in at this new community centre. Age is no barrier – the views of young people are just as important to us as those of adults. I’m sure that the new community centre will be a great asset to the people of Weedon Hill and I look forward to seeing it become a key part of community life.”
The new community centre is due to open by late spring. It is likely to be replaced by a larger permanent centre once the Buckingham Park housing development nears completion.
To express your views on what activities should be provided at the centre, visit the council’s website (www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/consultation). The closing date for comments is 20 February.
