Aylesbury Vale residents are being reminded that they have less than a week left to have their say on plans for the future of land use in the district.

People have until 5.15pm on 22 July to comment on Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Local Development Framework Core Strategy – an important planning document dealing with development in the district up until 2026.

The Core Strategy identifies the broad locations, scale and type of development and supporting infrastructure that will take place in the district. It also covers community issues such as quality of life, the environment, housing, education, community safety and the economy.

AVDC has already carried out two rounds of consultation on the draft strategy, which generated more than 2,000 comments. Following these initial consultations, the council revised the plan and gave the go-ahead for it to be sent to the government for examination by an independent inspector.

Over the past five weeks residents have been given the opportunity to comment on the soundness of the document. These final comments will be forwarded to the government’s independent inspector, who will hold a public examination of the document this winter before making a decision on what changes need to be made to the Core Strategy before it can be adopted.

Councillor Carole Paternoster, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, said: “The Core Strategy is a critical document that will shape the location of housing and commercial development in Aylesbury Vale for the next two decades. This really is the last chance for local people to have their say about the future of land use in the district to feed into the planning inspectorate. I would strongly encourage residents to send us their comments before the deadline on 22 July.”

The Core Strategy document and representation form is available on the council’s website at www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/ldf

Copies of the document and representation form are also available in council offices and district libraries. For more information about the LDF, call 01296 585435 or email avldf@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
