Aylesbury Vale District Council is set to undertake a tree planting programme on some of its open spaces.

The council is proposing to plant almost 50 new trees in various locations in Aylesbury and Buckingham this winter with the favoured species including ash, birch, cherry and oak.

Proposed sites in Aylesbury are Stonehaven Road, Wynford Green, Evesham Green/Tiverton Crescent, Northumberland Avenue/Turnfurlong play area, Lark Vale and land west of Bedgrove Park.

The suggested planting areas in Buckingham are Beaver Close, Lark Close, Otters Brook and Moreton Road.

Residents living or working near the proposed sites are being invited to comment on this year’s planting programme.

Environmental factors have already been assessed to ensure that each location is suitable for tree planting.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “We take great pride in how green and leafy our district is. Trees are great for the environment and help make the Vale much more attractive so I’m delighted that new trees will soon be planted in Aylesbury and Buckingham.”

The tree planting consultation and maps of the proposed planting areas are available on the council’s website at www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/environment, or call 01296 585210 for a paper copy. The consultation will run until 31 August.
