A national event to mark the efforts of the armed forces and their members will be celebrated in Aylesbury with a flag raising ceremony and parade.
Aylesbury Vale District Council is organising the events as part of the very first Armed Forces Day.
A ceremony will be held at the council’s offices in Gatehouse Road on 22 June, when a special Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at 10.30am to tie in with similar ceremonies being held across the country.
On the morning of 27 June, there will be a civic procession through the town centre starting at 10.30am. Local cadet forces and veterans will march from Market Square to Kingsbury accompanied by the Corunna Band and Bugles of Oxfordshire (The Rifles) Army Cadet Force.
The flag flying and Armed Forces Day are intended to raise public awareness of the vital role played by the armed forces, past and present, in maintaining the nation’s security and well-being.
