A spectacular dance showcase will be held in Aylesbury this week, featuring the best in local youth dance talent.

Around 250 youngsters from across Aylesbury Vale will be taking part in this year’s Activate Youth Dance Festival on 29 March at the Civic Centre, with performances from 7pm.

Organised by Aylesbury Vale District Council, the festival brings together a variety of dance performances from schools, community groups and youth dance groups.

Amongst the groups performing at this year’s event are young people from the Aylesbury Street Dance Group, who will perform the latest urban moves, and the Doorways Dance Group, a group of young people with disabilities performing a piece inspired by the Murray River in Australia. There will also be a special performance from the Berkshire Youth Dance Company.

During the day of the festival, performers will be able to take part in a musical theatre and jazz workshop as well as having a go at mixing music.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Young people love to perform and this event gives them the opportunity to share their work with each other and celebrate their talent. I hope lots of young people will come along to the festival and that it will inspire them to take classes or join a local dance group.”

Tickets are priced at £8.50 for adults, £4.50 for juniors/seniors and £20 for family tickets. There is a £1.50 reduction for Passport to Leisure card holders.
