An exciting range of courses are being run by Aylesbury Vale District Council to encourage adults to get active.
The fun and sociable events are taking place at venues in Aylesbury each week starting in June.
They are open to adults of all ages and abilities keen to get fit and healthy and are a gentle way of working out.
AVDC has joined forces with Aylesbury Tennis Club to set up an eight week ‘back to tennis’ course designed to get adults re-discovering the joys of the sport.
Qualified coaches will provide fun, friendly and relaxed sessions which will enable people taking part to develop their confidence and skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The first tennis course will start from 3 June and will take place on Wednesdays, 6.30pm to 7.30pm, at Aylesbury Tennis Club in Wendover Road. Sessions cost £3 per person or £2 for Passport to Leisure Card holders.
Funky street dance classes will be on offer at the Walton Court Community Centre to get adults into the swing of things. The sessions are designed especially for complete beginners.
The classes take place on Thursdays during term-time between 7pm and 8.30pm. It costs just £2.50 per session.
A jogging programme to get Aylesbury people on the move also starts next month. The scheme offers a great opportunity for adults to take part in enjoyable gentle exercise and meet new people in a friendly and supportive environment.
The eight-week programme has been designed to help participants improve their running style and build up their jogging fitness. It is open to anyone who has not jogged before and costs just £1 each week.
The first class starts from 5 June and takes place on Fridays between 2pm and 2.45pm. Participants must meet at the Healthy Living Centre in Walton Court shopping centre.
Chris Bolton, Sports Development Manager at AVDC, said: “These activity courses have been designed for individuals to go at their own pace – and, above all, enjoy. They are also a great way of meeting new people and I’m sure everyone will soon notice the benefits of taking part.”
