Get ready to vote
Postal voters in Aylesbury Vale are being urged to act fast so they don’t miss the chance to have their say in next month’s county council and European Parliamentary elections.
The final deadline for postal vote applications to be completed and returned to the district council’s electoral services team is 5pm on Tuesday 19 May.
Postal voting allows residents to have their ballot papers sent to them, which they must return to the council before the close of poll on election day. Electors do not have to give a reason for voting by this method.
Chris Sheard, Electoral Services Manager at AVDC, said: “Postal voting is becoming an increasingly popular option for people who find it difficult to get along to a polling station. We want to encourage as many people as possible to have their say in the county council and European Parliamentary elections on 4 June so it’s important that people act quickly if they would like to take advantage.”
Residents also have the option of voting by proxy, which means appointing someone to vote on their behalf. However, electors have to give a reason why they cannot attend the polling station in person, for example they are disabled, have to work or are on holiday.
The last day for when applications for proxy voting should be received is Wednesday 27 May.
To obtain the application form to vote by post or by proxy, to amend existing details, or to check if you are registered to vote either email electoralreg@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk or call 01296 585807.
