Youngsters’ chance to learn ace sport

Date Published: 16/11/09

Tennis classes start for children at the Aylesbury Vale Academy in Quarrendon on 20 November.

Run by a qualified tennis coach, the sessions help to improve tennis skills in a fun and friendly environment.

The classes are being run every week during term time and cost £2 per session or £1 for Passport to Leisure card holders.

Children from ages four to six play from 3.30pm to 4.30pm; and ages seven to 11 play from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. There's no need to book, just turn up.

Coaching is already taking place at Mandeville Secondary School every Saturday (term time only) between 10am and midday.

The sessions have been organised by Aylesbury Tennis Club as part of their new community programme with the support of Aylesbury Vale District Council and the Healthy Living Centre.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure at AVDC, said: “We are delighted to be able to help provide new tennis classes at the Aylesbury Vale Academy. It’s a great opportunity for children to continue to play tennis right through the winter months and learn new skills in a safe, indoor environment with a qualified tennis coach.”
