Aylesbury Vale District Council is proud to present a season of delightful classical music, with its newly announced programme of Music in Quiet Places concerts.
Music in Quiet Places is designed to bring rural communities together and is the ideal opportunity to enjoy professional concerts with family and friends.
This year’s varied programme has been put together by artistic director Robert Secret – a conductor and musician of international status.
Launching this year’s concert series is distinguished flautist Graham Mayger, who will be performing flute and string quartets by Hadyn and Mozart at St Mary the Virgin Church in Drayton Beauchamp on 8 May.
Residents will be able to enjoy an attractive evening of chamber music at The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Edlesborough on 22 May. The programme includes Mozart’s Hunt Quartet and the wonderfully romantic quintet for clarinet and strings by Weber.
The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Marsh Gibbon will be the setting for a recital featuring baroque and medieval music on 5 June.
Audience favourite Rowena Bass returns on 12 June with a performance of string and harp solos at The Church of St Mary Magdalene in Shabbington. There will also be a rare chance to hear Luigi Boccherini’s Music for Strings Trio.
The final concert of the series will be held at St Mary and the Holy Cross Church in Quainton on 26 June. The programme will include Bach’s third and sixth Brandenburg Concertos.
Dan Clucas, Arts and Development Manager at AVDC, said: “Music in Quiet Places gives concert goers the chance to explore many beautiful parts of the Vale. Robert Secret, the artistic director, has lined up a series of musical treats. From lute songs and flute quartets to a chamber orchestra, there is plenty of variety. Beautiful music in beautiful places.”
Before each performance, there will be a free guided walk led by a local historian. These walks are available to everyone, not just ticket holders, and set off from the concert venue at 6.30pm.
Each concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 or £3 for Passport to Leisure card holders.
