Lights, seats, and even the stage curtains will be auctioned as Aylesbury Civic Centre’s fixtures and fittings go under the hammer this month.
Sale items include a baby grand piano, signed posters and memorabilia, furniture, bar and catering equipment and a fork lift truck.
The auction will be held on Wednesday 30 June at the Civic Centre between 10am and 4pm. Viewing will take place on 29 June (10am to 4pm).
Buckinghamshire based Dickins Auctioneers are organising the sale, which is expected to attract a lot of prospective buyers. At present there are over 800 lots listed in the auction and more are still being added.
Richard Heason, Centre Manager, said: “It will be an eclectic mix of an auction which will inspire a lot of people to attend in the hunt for the unexpected. There should be something for everyone.”
The Civic Centre was officially closed by Councillor Janet Blake, Chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council, earlier this month – 35 years after it was officially opened by Councillor Anthony E. Mogford, the then chairman, on 2 September 1975.
Throughout its time, the venue featured stars such as David Bowie, Genesis and The Police. It has now been closed to make way for the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, which is due to open in October.
