Youngsters in Aylesbury Vale will have no excuses to be bored this Easter school holiday thanks to a packed programme of activities from AVDC.
The popular ‘Do-It’ activity scheme will be running throughout the two-week school holiday from Tuesday 6 to Friday 16 April.
An exciting range of sports and activities will be available at venues across the district catering for all ages.
Archery, trampolining and cycling will be available for beginners as well as those looking to improve their skills. There is also an opportunity to take part in multi-activity camps, where children and young people can master skills in a variety of activities such as skateboarding, street dance and print making.
For young people aged 11 years and above, the TUFFS programme (Turn Up for Free Sport) will be visiting villages to provide a range of activities including football, cricket, rounders and basketball. All sessions are supervised by qualified and experienced staff and focus on providing good, healthy fun.
For those with an interest in the arts, the council is offering a variety of workshops including street dance, musical dance, street cheer and cartoon making at venues across the district.
A playscheme for five to 13-year-olds will be held at the Jonathan Page Play Centre in Aylesbury, which is celebrating its 10th birthday this year. The exciting range of activities on offer this Easter includes judo, boxing and skateboarding, as well as a climbing wall and surf simulator.
The council’s mobile play teams will be visiting villages across the Vale, bringing bouncy castles, giant games and crafts to recreation grounds and sports fields. Sessions are for children up to the age of 11 and will take place either in the morning (10am to 12.30pm) or afternoon (2pm to 4.30pm).
There will also be a range of activities for young people with disabilities as part of the Dash programme. The scheme offers youngsters the chance to take part in activities designed to improve physical and life skills.
The Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership is hosting two free events for children during the Easter holidays. There’ll be an Easter Treasure Hunt in Aylesbury High Street on 8 April and an Inflatable Fun Day in Market Square on 15 April. Both events will take place between 11am and 3pm.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “The programme being run offers children and young people in Aylesbury Vale the chance to get active and really increase their skill levels whilst meeting new people and enjoying new activities that they may not have tried before.”
