Play in Aylesbury is to be given a boost thanks to another £60,000 grant from the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust, who are working in partnership with AVDC.
The money will be spent on new play spaces at Meadowcroft, Simpson Place and Cottesloe Green during 2010.
The projects, all located near Trust-owned housing, are part of a range of measures identified by the council to improve play opportunities for children and young people in Aylesbury Vale.
Consultation on the design of the play spaces has already begun, with work on each of these schemes due to begin this summer.
Over the last two years the Housing Trust has donated £60,000 to help develop the new play spaces at Carlton Close, Somerville Way and Edinburgh Playing Fields.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure at AVDC, said: “Securing this funding is excellent news as it allows us to continue to work with our colleagues and partners to make sure we deliver first class, value for money play experiences across Aylesbury. We are confident that, by involving the community and other groups and drawing on the play expertise of children, we will be able to introduce fantastic play spaces that provide a safe, secure and fun environment for youngsters of all ages.”
Ian Silver, Director of Housing and Community Services, Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust, said: “As part of our strategy to help improve and sustain local communities, we recognise that it is important that our residents and their children as well as other families in the neighbourhood have access to somewhere innovative and fun to play safely. We are very happy to continue to support AVDC on these worthwhile projects.”
