Vale Park
Aylesbury Vale District Council has won a regional prize in the Britain in Bloom competition for Vale Park, Aylesbury.
The award was given in the Thames and Chilterns in Bloom regional award, as part of the wider town entry for Aylesbury, submitted by Aylesbury Town Council.
The judges particularly like the new plantings and said, “Perennial planting in Vale Park offers an attractive alternative to shrub planting.”
Over the past five years, Vale Park has undergone an extensive renovation programme. The children’s play area has been replaced, there are new courts for basketball and football, bowls green, an attractive new entrance and formal garden. This has been at no cost to the council tax payers of Aylesbury Vale, as grants were secured by AVDC from organisations such as the Department for Communities & Local Government, combined with developer contributions.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said, “AVDC’s green spaces team is to be congratulated once again. We already have a Green Flag award for this park, so to get another from Britain in Bloom is the icing on the cake!”
