The best of independent theatre is coming to Aylesbury Vale’s rural communities.
For the 12th year running, the Theatre in the Villages tour is going on the road around the district stopping at a variety of village venues.
Comedy, fairytale adventures, drama, music and opera are on the bill this autumn starting in October.
Highlights include Alice in Wonderland by the Oxfordshire Theatre Company; By George! a musical review about the quirks of the English, performed by Michael Lunts; and Eyes Front - a fascinating combination of live performance, song and film all about the effect of music in wartime performed by Isla St Clair with film maker Patrick King.
Aylesbury Vale District Council funds the tour, which is aimed at bringing the bright lights of live entertainment to the rural parishes. The performances are hosted at participating villages by local people working with AVDC.
Deborah Bottomley, Arts Development Officer, said: “The programme arranged for this year’s Theatre in the Villages tour will offer something for everyone. It’s all about bringing professional art live to people’s doorsteps and to those rural communities that don’t often get the chance to experience such performances. There’s so much going on – people really should take a look at the programme so that they don’t miss out.”
