New grants scheme to support green spaces
A new grants scheme that will help community and voluntary groups develop projects to enhance the quality of the local environment is now open.
The GrantScape Community Greenspace Challenge has a total pot of £500,000 to award to organisations to help them create new green spaces and transform existing ones for their local communities.
Groups in Aylesbury Vale will be able to apply for grants of between £20,000 and £75,000 for projects delivered over an 18-month period.
To be eligible for a grant, because funding is through the Landfill Communities Fund, projects must be located within 10 miles of a landfill site.
Applicants are required to discuss their projects with the green spaces team at Aylesbury Vale District Council before submitting their application. The closing date for applications is midday on 9 May 2011.
To find out more about the Community Greenspace Challenge, go to www.grantscape.org.uk or call the green spaces team at AVDC on 01296 585072.
