Aylesbury to mark national celebration with feast of summer fun

Archived press release

Date Published: 28/07/11

Families can enjoy a day packed with activities on Wednesday 3 August as Aylesbury Vale District Council celebrates National Playday.

The entertainment on offer in Aylesbury’s Vale Park between 11am and 3pm includes a climbing wall, laser quest, graffiti art, skate park, sandpits, bouncy castles and numerous play areas.

There will also be a special flag raising ceremony at 12.30pm to celebrate the park’s Green Flag award. Receiving the status is a sure sign to visitors that a park is judged to be a high quality green space that gives visitors a hugely rewarding experience.

The event will be free to attend and everyone is welcome. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. Most activities are free but there is a small charge for some.

Play Day is an annual national campaign which sees thousands of children and young people getting out and playing at locally organised events. It celebrates children’s right to play and highlights its importance in their lives.

The Play Day celebration in Aylesbury is just one of the events being delivered by the council’s leisure team over the summer holidays. For more information, visit or call 01296 585301.
