Volunteer of the Year award winners
Residents in Aylesbury Vale are being reminded they have just a matter of days to nominate someone for the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Aylesbury Vale District Council has already received a number of entries for worthy people to be recognised for their work in the area.
Every day hundreds of residents give up their time to make our neighbourhoods and district a better place, be it through sport, running youth clubs and organisations, or caring for vulnerable people.
Nominees do not have to live in Aylesbury Vale, but the service and support they provide must be carried out within the district and be of significant benefit to the community.
Councillor Pam Pearce, Cabinet Member for Community Matters, said: “Aylesbury Vale does volunteering very well and this is our way of raising the profile and giving people recognition for what they’ve done. It also gives us a chance to find out how much of a difference their work has made to people’s lives. We want as many people as possible to nominate those unsung heroes for the award and to make people aware of the benefits of volunteering for the wider community.”
The closing date for nominations is 27 April, after which a panel of independent judges will have the very difficult job of reviewing the applications and deciding who is this year’s volunteer of the year. Last year the panel chose Nicolette Pike of Steeple Claydon as overall winner with Phyl Saw of Haddenham as runner-up.
