Delays in new bin deliveries

Aylesbury Vale District Council apologises to residents awaiting the arrival of new recycling and food waste bins.
Unfortunately deliveries of the new bins for some residents in the ‘ZA’ ‘ZB’ and ‘ZD’ delivery areas has been delayed. The properties affected are generally in rural areas or where access roads are narrow.
The council’s contractors are working hard to ensure that everyone gets their bins as soon as possible. It is anticipated that all the bins will be delivered by 31 August in time for the start of the new collection service on 4 September.
All households should have, by now, received a letter from AVDC explaining about the new bin deliveries. At the top of the letter, there's a code where it says 'Ref:' (the code starts with a Z). Residents can check the code against the list on the council’s website (click on the link at the bottom of the page) to see when they should get their bins.
The key features of the new collection service are:
• Collections will take place during Tuesday to Friday.
• Households will receive a new ‘all-in-one’ recycling bin for all their paper, cardboard, glass, cans and plastics, with a blue lid and wheels for easy movement. This will be collected every two weeks.
• Households will get a new bin for food waste and a kitchen caddy. The food waste bin will be collected every week.
• All other waste will go in the existing green bin. This will be collected every two weeks, alternating with the big recycling bin.
Councillor Sir Beville Stanier, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health, said: “Changing the waste and recycling services for the entire district is a mammoth undertaking and we want to firstly thank residents for their patience over the past few weeks. There have been minor issues alongthe way, such as some residents experiencing a few delays with bin deliveries, which we would obviously like to have avoided. If you have not received your new recycling and food waste bins yet, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and pleased be assured that we will deliver your bins as soon as possible.”
If the timetable shows that you should have received your bins by now, but you haven't, please check to see if your neighbours have theirs first. If they have and you haven't, please send an email to newbins@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk with your name address, postcode and a daytime phone number.
