Thousands of people will get a taste of the variety of services provided by Aylesbury Vale District Council at this year's Bucks County Show on 30 August.
Staff from across the council will be showing residents how AVDC provides value for money services.
The AVDC marquee, located at avenue E, stand EL04, will give visitors the opportunity to enter competitions, follow a trail of questions around the marquee to find out about council services while having a fun day out. The show is open from 8am to 6pm.
Recycling and waste staff will be answering questions and demonstrating the new bins so local people can get a preview of how to use them ready for their first collection the following week.
The ever-popular sustainability team will be raising awareness of carbon emissions and how residents can take practical steps to reduce energy use and save money.
Staff from environmental health will be demonstrating food safety on a budget, including showing how to make friends with your fridge and providing recipe cards for leftovers.
Countryside volunteers will be displaying information about the peregrine falcons, the barn owl project and other work to protect bio-diversity in the Vale.
Other exhibits will show the split of council tax payments between organisations and the range of services AVDC provide. This will be topped off by fun competitions and games based on the value for money theme, together with the opportunity for residents to test their knowledge of council services.
The council will also be promoting its twitter account and website with a competition for youngsters to win wristbands and bubbles. As usual the show will be fun for all the family.
The Bucks County Show takes place at Weedon Park, near Aylesbury. For more details about the event, visit www.buckscountyshow.co.uk
