New parking arrangements at Hampden House car park

Archived press release

Date Published: 23/01/12

Shoppers and residents are being advised of changes to the opening hours at the Hampden House multi-storey car park in Aylesbury.

The Aylesbury Vale District Council-run facility is to close on Sundays and public holidays from 29 January.

There’s plenty of alternative parking in and around the town centre for both long and short stay. Car parks can be found in Exchange Street, Walton Street, Upper Hundreds Way, Buckingham Street, Whitehall Street and Hale Street.

The Hampden House car park, which is located just off Aylesbury High Street (next to the QD store), will remain open Monday to Saturday between 7am and 8pm.

Councillor Brian Roberts, Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities, said: “We opened Hampden House on Sundays and public holidays to provide extra town centre parking following the demolition of the Civic Centre car park. The opening of the new temporary Exchange Street car park has increased our parking capacity so there is no need to continue to keep Hampden House open on Sundays and public holidays. Reducing the opening hours will also help us save money on our electricity bills. There is plenty of spare capacity available in the other town centre car parks - all within easy reach of shops and restaurants.”
