Children and young people from across Aylesbury Vale can take part in a variety of play activities on National Playday.
Organised by Aylesbury Vale District Council, this year’s event is taking place in Vale Park on Wednesday 1 August between 11am and 3pm.
Some of the activities on offer include sports, crafts, circus skills, Umbanda drumming, a surf simulator, mobile skate park, climbing wall, inflatables and a beach play area.
Most activities are free but there is a small charge for some events. Children must be accompanied by an adult and families are invited to bring a picnic.
National Playday happens every year and celebrates children’s right to play and highlights its importance in their lives. This is the seventh year that AVDC has hosted a free National Playday event.
As well as the Playday activities, the final of the Aylesbury Vale Digital Games will also be taking place in Vale Park.
The Digital Games has been touring various youth clubs, centres and cafes across the district over the past few weeks, giving young people the chance to take part in a pentathlon competition on the Nintendo Wii featuring Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The event in Vale Park will see the culmination of this, with four simultaneous tournaments taking place before the winners are awarded prizes in an Olympic-esque ceremony.
