Refuse collections
The Olympic Torch Relay through Aylesbury Vale on Monday 9 July will mean homes in the district will have their refuse and recycling collected one day later.
The relay passes through many areas of the Vale, including Buckingham, Winslow, Aylesbury, Stoke Mandeville and Waddesdon. Many roads will be closed and diversions will be in place during the day, making it difficult for refuse vehicles to reach their scheduled destinations.
As a result, all refuse, recycling and garden collections in the Vale are cancelled on 9 July and all collections will be one day later than usual.
Bin hangers have been sent to householders requesting that they place their bins and containers out for collection a day later than normal.
Councillor Sir Beville Stanier, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health, said: “People will be able to enjoy this momentous occasion right outside their doorstep and we hope that this unusual and unexpected change to our service won’t inconvenience residents. It’s important that we avoid any unnecessary congestion during the relay.”
