On Friday 15 June, the Bucks Community Foundation is inviting people to take part in the first-ever ‘Go Green For Bucks Day’.
They are asking people to wear something green, eat something green, write in green ink, dye their hair green or go for a walk in the green countryside and in return to donate £1 to support the Community Foundation's work amongst community groups in the county. This invitation is open to schools, businesses, shops, restaurants, public sector bodies as well as private individuals.
Buckinghamshire has twice as many registered charities per head of population than the national average and the Foundation's aim in this Diamond Jubilee year is to raise an extra £60,000 so that they can make 60 extra grants of £1,000 to support local community projects.
Friday 15 June also falls during national Small Charity Week when the Foundation for Social Improvement ask communities throughout the UK to remember the massive contribution, especially at this time of public authority cutbacks, made by small charities to local community life.
For more information on how to take part in this initiative, please contact Richard on 01296 330134 or email rdickson@buckscf.org.uk
