Older people who think their footballing days are behind them don't have to hang their boots up just yet, thanks to new walking football sessions organised by Aylesbury Vale District Council in partnership with the Berks and Bucks FA.
Running every Monday in Buckingham between 3pm and 4pm from 12 November, this new version of the beautiful game uses the same rules as five-a-side football, except participants are not allowed to run, only walk.
Walking football is aimed at those over the age of 50 who have a love of the beautiful game. It allows players to continue/re-join the game as it takes place at a much slower pace.
A fully qualified FA coach will guide participants back to the basics. There will also be an opportunity to put skills into practice during small sided games.
Each session costs just £3 (£2 Swan Pool members and Passport to Leisure holders) and there is no need to book, just turn up and have fun! The first session is free.
All sessions take place at the Buckingham Youth Centre, London Road. Participants are advised to wear trainers and shin pads.
