Resolution:

The Economy Scrutiny Committee considered a call-in of Cabinet's decision in respect of proposals for the introduction of a Traffic Order relating to parking arrangements at the Swan Pool, Buckingham.

During consideration of the call-in, the petition challenging the decision and asking for the parking charges proposal to be stopped was submitted to the Scrutiny Committee.  The petition organiser was given an opportunity to address the Scrutiny Committee.

Following consideration of the call-in, the petition and other information submitted to it, the Economy Scrutiny Committee concurred with the Cabinet's decision.

Resolution:

The Communities Scrutiny Committee considered a call-in of the Cabinet Member decision that funding for Equalities Advice Services was to be allocated to an organisation, or organisations, working at countywide level to deliver that service.

During considerations, the petition objecting to the closure of the Aylesbury Vale Equality and Human Rights Council office was accepted by the Chairman on behalf of the Cabinet Member for Community Matters.  The petition organiser submitted the petition and was given an opportunity to address the scrutiny committee.

Following consideration of the call-in, the Communities Scrutiny Committee concurred with the Cabinet Members' decision.

In accordance with the Council's Petitions Scheme, the petition organiser, Ruth Ash was given an opportunity to explain the rationale behind the arguments expressed in the petition.  After Mrs Ash had spoken, Members discussed the issues raised by the petition.

Those Members who spoke were of the view overall, that this issue should be examined within the context of the Council's aspirations for maintaining the economic vibrancy of the District's Towns and Parishes.

The Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities would take the views expressed into account when determining future action in response to the petition.
