About Building Control

Building Control is a service through which the Building Regulations are administered.  The Building Regulations are made under powers provided by the Building Act 1984, and apply in England and Wales.  The current edition of the regulations is “The Building Regulations 2000” (as amended) and the majority of building projects are required to comply with them.  They exist to ensure the health and safety of people in and around all types of buildings (i.e. domestic, commercial and industrial). They also provide for energy conservation, and access to and use of buildings.

Building Control approval and completion certification is now essential when you are selling a property.

Items requiring Building Regulations approval are as diverse as fitting a light fitting in a controlled location in or outside a dwelling or forming an en-suite to building a shopping centre, hotel, parking and housing complexes.  Please contact these offices on 01296 585460 to find out if the project you are considering will require Building Control approval.
