Demolition of Buildings

When a building is demolished it is a requirement that we are informed.  This is carried out under section 80 and 81 of the Building Act 1984.

We require advance written notification before any building or part of any building is taken down or demolished.  This enables us to consult the appropriate organisations such as:

  • The relevant utilities (water, gas and electric)
  • Environment Agency
  • Health and Safety Executive
  • Neighbouring properties

If you are considering demolishing a building, please contact Building Control first.
