The historic buildings officers and conservation area officers deal with two different types of work.

Conservation area officers review our 124 existing conservation areas and also consider designating new ones. They also arrange for the purchase of conservation area reports.

Historic buildings officers deal with the planning legislation that affects historic and listed buildings and buildings in conservation areas. They can give advice on maintaining and repairing old buildings.
