Key Development in Aylesbury Vale

The need for Major Development Areas (MDAs)

From time to time Central Government, via Regional planning organisations, require the Counties to plan for future population increases.

The BCC County Structure Plan commits AVDC to major development in the period 2001 – 2011: 8,600 dwellings and 8,800 jobs.

Much of this development will take place in Aylesbury where three MDAs are proposed. Other large developments are proposed in Buckingham, Winslow, Wendover and Haddenham.

The MDAs are identified in the Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan (AVDLP) and were examined at the Public Inquiry which finished on 1st June 2001. The first part of the Report of the Inquiry Inspector, which includes consideration of the MDA’s, was published in August 2002, and proposed modifications to AVDLP were published for public consultation in September 2003. AVDLP was adopted in January 2004.
