Planning appeals

Appeals are heard by an independant govermnent body known as the Planning Inspectorate.

Applicants can appeal against the refusal of an application, or against conditions imposed on an approval.  Applicants can also appeal on the grounds of 'non-determination' if we fail to determine their application by the deadline set by the government.  There is no third party right of appeal.

If you commented on the original planning application, we write to tell you if an appeal is  lodged and forward copies of your correspondence to the Planning Inspectorate.  You can, if you wish, submit additional comments to them.

Details about how and when to lodge an appeal are given on the reverse of decision notices. Follow the link below for more information or to lodge an appeal or look up details of an appeal.
