Green Spaces Plan 2005- 2008

The Green Spaces Plan aims to set in place policies for the provision of new areas and for the management and development of existing green spaces in the District. The plan outlines the main AVDC policies relating to green spaces, as well as the regional and national policy context. AVDC manages around 450 green spaces and the plan outlines the main spaces and their uses.

There are 4 key objectives for the management of AVDC’s green spaces outlined in the plan.

1. Enhancing the quality of provision of green spaces,
2. Increasing community consultation and participation in green spaces
3. Improving biodiversity and environmental sustainability in green spaces
4. Considering community safety and reducing Anti-Social Behaviour in green spaces.

The plan outlines an action plan for each of the 4 key objectives. The appendix includes a hierarchy of open spaces in the District and provides a list of key partners, including communities, agencies and residents associations.
