Milton Keynes Long Term Growth Strategy Review
In 2007 AVDC and Buckinghamshire County Council commissioned Colin Buchanan to undertake a report into the process leading to the expansion proposals put forward by Milton Keynes Partnership (MKP).
The review provides a critique of the Milton Keynes Growth Strategy. The first stage of the study is a desk based review of the numerous documents produced in devising the draft growth strategy by Milton Keynes Partnership. It examines the feasibility and viability of future expansion to the east of the M1 motorway, rather than to the south-west of Milton Keynes as proposed in the Milton Keynes Partnership Strategy. The study promotes increased urban potential for the urban area of Milton Keynes and the alternative location for a sustainable urban extension on land east of the M1.
The report concludes that development east of M1 represents a more sustainable long term development option, and outlines the strengths and weaknesses of the MK Growth Strategy in relation to transport, infrastructure, environment and landscape.
