Core Strategy Examination - Updated August 2010

On the 8th September 2010 the Council will be considering a recommendation to withdraw the Core Strategy from the examination process (subject to Secretary of State Direction); this report will be available from 26th August 2010. Please see the Core Strategy – Current Position webpage for the latest information.

The core strategy for Aylesbury Vale district was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination on 30 October 2009. Mr Geoff Salter BA MRTPI from the Planning Inspectorate is conducting the examination into the core strategy. The hearing sessions took place commencing in February 2010 and finished on Thursday 1 April 2010. The hearing sessions have now closed.


Following the revocation of the Regional Spatial Strategy (South East Plan), on the 6th July, the Council is considering its impact on the Core Strategy. An interim statement from the Inspector was published on the 11 June 2010. This alongside responses from other respondents and correspondence between the Council and the Inspector, and a statement from the Inspector on 10 August 2010 can be downloaded on the following page 'Aylesbury Vale Core Strategy - Responses to the Inspectors Interim Statement (July 2010)' or by clicking the link on the left.

PRE-HEARING MEETING
The pre-hearing meeting (PHM) took place on Thursday 17 December 2009 and the notes from the meeting are available to download below. These notes replace the guidance notes for participants previously available on this webpage. The agenda for the PHM is also available to download below, for reference.
During the pre-hearing meeting, a revised proposed running order for the hearing sessions was agreed and as a result, a revised draft issues for the hearing programme was prepared. Both are available to download below. Notes from the PHM (available below) replace the guidance notes for participants previously available on this webpage. Participants in the hearing sessions should refer to these notes from now on.

EXAMINATION HEARING SESSIONS
The hearing sessions commenced on Tuesday 2 February 2010, and finished on Thursday 1 April 2010. The hearing sessions took place in the Civic Centre over the course of this period covering a wide range of issues from the growth arc at Aylesbury, viability and infrastructure to affordable housing. The hearing sessions have now closed.
For each of the hearing sessions a more detailed agenda was produced and written statements submitted. These can all be downloaded under the various sessions by clicking the links to the left of this page. The core document list can also be accessed on the left as can the schedule of proposed changes produced at submission stage, and subsequent changes supported by the Council during the examination in public.

NEXT STEPS
The examination remains open until the Inspector produces his binding report. A preliminary statement from the Inspector was issued on 11 June 2010. This alongside responses from other respondents, and correspondence between the Council and the Inspector, including the Inspector;s statement on 10 August 2010 can be downloaded by clicking the link on the left 'Aylesbury Vale Core Strategy - Responses to the Inspectors Interim Statement (July 2010)'. Following any outcome from the Inspectors interim statements, the Inspector will produce his binding report. The Council will then be able to publish and adopt the final core strategy, subject to any amendments.
