Core Strategy Submission

On the 8th September 2010 the Council will be considering a recommendation to withdraw the Core Strategy from the examination process (subject to Secretary of State Direction); the report will be available from 26th August 2010. Please see the Core Strategy – Current Position webpage for the latest information.

The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination on 30 October 2009.

All of the below documents (apart from the publication stage representations) are available to download below or by following the links to the left. The submission documents consist of:

• Core Strategy (which includes changes to the proposals map)
• Sustainability Appraisal report
• Pre-submission consultation statement
• Submission consultation statement
• Copies of publication stage representations
• Supporting documents relevant to the production of the Core Strategy, which include:

  • Evidence documents 
  • Topic Papers
  • Post-publication reports (these are reports not published along with the proposed submission Core Strategy in the summer, including an Equalities Impact Assessment)
  •  Soundness toolkit (this is a self-assessment carried out by the Council in accordance with guidance)
  •  Schedule of proposed minor changes to the Core Strategy following publication
  • Correspondence relating to late representations
  • Correspondence relating to withdrawn representations
  • Sustainability Appraisal comments

A statement of availability has also been produced, which sets out where and when the submission documents are available for inspection.

Programme Officer

The Programme Officer operates independently from the Planning Department and is responsible to the Inspector Mr G Salter. She will organise and administer the examination under the guidance of the Inspector, and should be the point of contact for all correspondence relating to the examination from now on. What happens next?

The timescales after submission to the receipt ofthe inspector’s report are subject to confirmation from the planninginspectorate, but are likely to be as follows:
•Pre-hearing meeting –December 2009
•Examination hearings –February/March 2010
•Receipt of Inspector’s report– July 2010
•Adoption – September 2010
