Direction of housing growth at Aylesbury
On the 8th September 2010 the Council will be considering a recommendation to withdraw the Core Strategy from the examination process (subject to Secretary of State Direction); this report will be available from 26th August 2010. Please see the Core Strategy – Current Position webpage for the latest information.
What was this consultation about?
This consultation was about the direction of housing growth at Aylesbury, and presented three options for comment. It also asked for views about the principles that will guide how these developments take shape. The consultation ended on 12 December 2008.
An analysis report on the responses received, which was prepared by external consultants, is available to download below. Also available below is an additional table (again prepared by the consultants), which sets out the preferred option by the respondents postcode. The numbers and data in this table are the same as in the analysis report, but are displayed in a different way for clarity.
What options did we consult on?
The three options considered in the consultation for the direction of growth at Aylesbury were:
- Eastern growth arc
- Southern growth arc
- Combined east and southern growth arcs
What is the current position?
In March 2009, Cabinet recommended that the eastern growth arc is included in the local development framework core strategy. Following this, the Environment Scrutiny Committee considered and made comments on a draft of the core strategy.
In April 2009, Cabinet considered the draft core strategy and on 6th May 2009, full Council will consider a recommendation to approve the core strategy for publication and submission to the government for approval. The meeting commences at 6.30pm and is in the Maxwell Hall of the Civic Centre in Aylesbury.
Can I still view the consultation material?
The consultation booklet is still available to download below, (although we cannot accept any more comments). The booklet explains the three options for growth and includes indicative master plans and illustrations for each option. It also sets out a series of ‘place-shaping’ principles that have been devised to guide what these places would be like, which will apply to all the options.
The consultation was also accompanied by a series of exhibitions. Copies of the panels displayed at the exhibitions are available to download below.
