What is The Vale of Aylesbury Plan?

We are developing a new planning policy document for the district called The Vale of Aylesbury Plan. The plan will set out a strategy for growth for the district to 2031.

Recent changes to the planning system mean that the previous top down imposed figure for housing growth from national and regional government is in the process of being removed. In its place is a bottom up approach with localism at its heart. In simple terms this means that local people will have a greater role in influencing the outcomes of the planning process.

In taking this new approach forward, we are involving local communities far more than has been the case in the past. The plan will guide development decisions and will ultimately replace the Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan.

The first public consultation on the Vale of Aylesbury Plan took place in December 2011- January 2012. A summary of the consultation responses are available to download below or by clicking here.

Latest news

On 15 May 2012, Cabinet agreed a draft set of plan aims, growth levels (for housing and for employment), and a broad distribution for growth. The Cabinet report is available to download by clicking here.

They also agreed a revised timeline for its production which splits the plan into two parts: a strategy document and a delivery policies document. The strategy document will be progressed ahead of the other, to set the high level framework.

Timetable

The strategy document will be considered again by Cabinet in Autumn 2012, as a pre-submission version. It is then anticipated to go to examination in early 2013.

The delivery policies document will follow on, with anticipated consultation in early 2013 and examination in late 2013/early 2014.
