Consultation on the Vale of Aylesbury Plan (Dec 2011 - Jan 2012)

                                              This consultation is now closed

This consultation is the first public consultation in preparing the Vale of Aylesbury Plan and will run from Thursday 1 December 2011 to Thursday 26 January 2012.

It is focused on the number of new jobs and homes in the district and the very broad locations of where new homes may go. We are asking for your input into this.

The consultation booklet, the sustainability appraisal and a summary sheet setting out details of the consultation are available as downloads towards the bottom of this page.

What is the Vale of Aylesbury Plan?

The Vale of Aylesbury Plan is the new planning document for the district and covers the period from 2011 to 2031. Once adopted, it will replace the Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan (2004).

The Vale of Aylesbury Plan will set out the number and distribution of new jobs and homes to be provided in the district. It will also include policies which we will use when deciding planning applications.

The plan is being written because government has changed the way in which it wants the planning system to work. The new way of working includes removing regional plans and giving back more control locally, which includes setting our own jobs and homes targets for the district.

What is the consultation about?

We need you to tell us what you think about two separate but related issues:

  • the overall number of new jobs and homes that should be planned for in the district. We are asking for your views on four different ranges for new jobs and homes for the next 20 years
  • the overall broad distribution of where new homes in the district should go. This is not about the exact location of growth, but the general location in the district. We are asking you views on seven different distribution scenarios

What evidence is there?

The Vale of Aylesbury Plan has to be based on evidence that justifies our approach. You may wish to look at the evidence we have used to help with your response. Our main pieces of evidence are:

  • Housing and economic growth assessment– this document looks at a range of forecasts that have helped us in preparing the number of jobs and homes that feature in this consultation. Please follow the related link below to view more information on the housing and economic growth assessment.
  • Sustainability appraisal – this is a document which assesses the different levels of homes and jobs in the district, and options for distributing homes against a set of objectives so that the impacts of each can be considered. The sustainability appraisal is also being consulted upon during this consultation period and is available to download below. Please follow the related link below to view more information about the sustainability appraisal.

We have held a series of ‘drop-in sessions’ where planning officers have been available to talk to you about the consultation and answer questions; these were held at:

  • Aylesbury Waterside Theatre – Tuesday 10 January - 3pm – 8pm
  • Buckingham Community Centre – Wednesday 11 January - 3pm – 8pm
  • The Winslow Centre – Wednesday 18 January - 3pm – 8pm

This consultation has now closed.
