Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be disabled to use the scheme?

No. Anyone with any mobility difficulty whether temporary or permanent can use the scheme.

Where can I use the equipment?

If you are using a scooter or wheelchair on short term loan then you can use it in Aylesbury's town centre.

Do I have to book in advance?

No, but we highly recommend that you do as this will avoid disappointment and we cannot guarantee you a parking space.

Can I hire wheelchairs and scooters on a long term basis?

Yes. Please see our Long Term Hire page.

Is there any limit to how long I can borrow the equipment?

Wheelchairs and scooters loaned on short term hire must be returned by 3.45pm on the day of hire. There is no maximum length of time for long term loans when paid for in advance.

Can I take equipment abroad?

Yes, but it is your responsibility to make sure that no damage occurs.  We highly recommend that you take out your own insurance as we will bill you for any damage.

Do you provide advice and information?

Although we are unable to advise professionally on mobility issues, we are always happy to try to answer questions or put you in contact with someone who can help.

Do you sell mobility and daily living aids?

No, but we can give advice on where these products are available.

Once I join Aylesbury Shopmobility can I use other schemes?

No. Unfortunately at the moment all the schemes are run independently from each other.  Although the National Federation of Shopmobility is researching the possibility of a national passport scheme.
