Hackney carriage vehicle licence
The main difference between the two is that a hackney carriage can be flagged down by the public and can sit on the various taxi ranks in Aylesbury. There are only 50 white hackney carriage licences available for the town of Aylesbury and not surprisingly these are fully subscribed. In order to get a licence the vehicle has to meet certain criteria in terms of dimensions, appearance and cleanliness and of course its mechanical integrity. Licenses run for 1 year and during that time the car will be subject to further checks and tests.
